On Oct. 8, Kenosha St. Joseph defeated Racine Lutheran 28-7 to take first place in the Midwest Classic Conference, according to The Journal Times.
This victory guarantees the St. Joe Lancers at least a shared victory for the MCC title, according to Kenosha News.
"Man it feels great. It’s such a blessing, you know, we marked this date up since the beginning of the season, and it's a blessing we got the dub," Senior Caden Tolefree said in an interview with Kenosha News.
St. Joe coach Matt Rizzo praised senior cornerback Ben Butler for his performance in the game, and his work ethic off the field. Butler had several impressive plays throughout the game, including an interception and a great first play.
"He’s earned every single rep over the last few years," Rizzo said of Butler, according to Kenosha News. "He’s a kid that kind of had to wait his turn a little bit, got some reps the last couple years, but really had to wait his turn. He’s an outstanding young man, great attitude, he’s really put a lot of emphasis into his senior season."
St. Joseph, now 8-0 overall and 6-0 in the conference, may be looking at a No. 1 seed in reach.
