The Racine Unified School District Board of Education recently recognized numerous student-athletes who excelled to the state level in various sports during this school year. This acknowledgment included achievements in swimming, cross country, bowling, cheerleading, dance, esports, and basketball.
In swimming, students from Case High School competed in state-level events. Notable achievements include Gabi Peterman's performance in the 50 and 100 freestyles, and Brayden Moore's third-place finishes in the same categories.
Cross country teams from both Horlick and Case High Schools had significant results. Case High School athletes earned a second-place finish at the SEC Championship, while the Horlick boys' team won their sectional and placed 17th at the state level.
RUSD bowlers demonstrated strong performances, with Sakinah Thomas from Park qualifying for the girls’ singles competition. The RUSD Boys Bowling Co-op Team secured 4th place at state, and Christian Peterson finished 10th in the boys’ singles.
Cheer teams from Horlick and Park excelled, with Horlick's Co-Ed Traditional Cheer Team finishing 5th, and Park High School achieving 3rd and 4th place finishes in different categories.
Case High School's Dance Team made its debut at the state level in Division 1 Pom, marking a significant milestone for the school.
In esports, RUSD teams achieved remarkable success at the WIHSEA Fall State Championship. The Division 1 Overwatch team secured second place, and Case’s Division 1 Smash Bros team claimed the state championship.
Finally, the Park High School Boys Basketball Team reached the state championship game for the first time in 65 years, finishing as runners-up.
The district's student-athletes have proudly represented their schools and community in these diverse competitions, showcasing their dedication and talent.
