President Joe Biden's policies are fueling inflation and hurting Americans economically, U.S. Rep. Bryan Steil (R-WI) said in a statement.
“The Biden Administration’s policies are making it more expensive for Americans to go to work, pick up their kids from school and drive to the grocery store," Steil tweeted.
Prices rose 5.4% in September on an annualized basis, NBC reported.
Supply chain problems and worker shortages were cited as the reason for higher prices, the story said.
Food and shelter was responsible for more than half of the increase, NBC said.
Ports in Los Angeles and Long Beach are facing logjams as container ships wait to be unloaded, with a shortage of trucks and drivers and an "overwhelming demand" for imported consumer goods, the Guardian reported.
There were 62 container ships offshore waiting to unload on Oct. 13, the newspaper reported.
As the backlogs threatened delivery of Christmas presents, Biden unveiled a plan on Oct. 13 to expand 24-hour operations at the ports, CNBC reported.
The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach account for nearly 40% of imports into the United States, the network reported. The International Longshore and Warehouse Union has previously said its members would be willing to work these extra shifts, the story said.
