Rep. Bryan Steil recently recognized Oct. 1 as being National Manufacturing Day as manufacturing is Wisconsin's largest industry.
Owing to the economic expansion and retirements, there are going to be a lot of employment openings in the state of Wisconsin, particularly in the manufacturing industry.
"Today is National Manufacturing Day! Over 475,000 Wisconsinites work in manufacturing. In Wisconsin, we make things. #NationalManufacturingDay," Steil tweeted.
Eighty-six percent of Wisconsin's exports are manufactured goods. Wisconsin is home to over 9,300 manufacturing companies and was ranked #1 in Manufacturing Employment by Business Facilities Magazine in 2021.
Manufacturing contributes $65 billion each year in economic output to the state's GDP. Approximately one in six workers in Wisconsin work in the manufacturing industry.
Every year since 2016, as part of Manufacturing Month, Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) and Johnson Financial Group have held a contest to determine the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin. The top 16 products nominated compete in a Manufacturing Madness bracket. The winner is announced in October. Past items nominated have included boats, cheese products, motorcycles and military vehicles.
