Born March 7: Horse trainer with Racine ties

This week marks the birth of a Thoroughbred horse trainer born March 7, 1964, linked to Racine. She comes from a family involved in horse racing. Her career began in 1987. She trained horses that won graded stakes races and earned multiple trainer titles at major tracks in the eastern U.S. She was the first woman in recent history to win a trainer’s title at a major racing circuit, achieving this at Saratoga Race Course in 2009. She has won titles at Aqueduct Racetrack, Belmont Park, and Laurel Park. In 2020, she recorded her 2000th career win. In 2023, she set a record for most wins in a year at NYRA tracks. Her career includes some controversies with racing sanctions. Her connection to Racine is through her birthplace and family background.
