Lynne Connie Voorlas, known professionally as Lane Brody, was born on September 24, 1955, in Oak Park, Illinois. She grew up in Racine, Wisconsin, and graduated from Horlick High School in 1969. Brody began her music career singing commercial jingles. In 1982, she co-wrote Anne Murray's hit song "The Hottest Night of the Year." She later charted her own country singles, including "Over You," which was nominated for an Academy Award. Brody is best known for her 1984 No. 1 hit, "The Yellow Rose," a duet with Johnny Lee. The song was the theme for the NBC television show of the same name. In 1984, she also performed for Beatrice Foods during the XIV Olympics. Brody appeared on numerous television shows, including Austin City Limits and NBC Today Show. In 1996, she was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame’s Walkway of Stars. Brody is married to Nashville musician Eddie Bayers.
