The City of Racine has announced that the State Street Lift Bridge will be temporarily closed on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. The closure is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and is necessary for planned structural testing.
During these hours, both vehicles and masted watercraft will not be able to use the bridge. Traffic will be rerouted via Hamilton Street while the inspection takes place.
Commuters are advised to plan their routes in advance and expect possible delays in the downtown area as a result of the detour.
"The City appreciates the public’s cooperation and understanding as this necessary inspection is completed," according to city officials.
