Mount Pleasant’s Campus Park will host a new event, Chalk the Walk, on Saturday, August 23rd. The event is organized by Enjoy Mount Pleasant and the Racine Arts Council and will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Participants of all ages are invited to use the park's paved paths as their canvas for chalk art. Attendees can bring their own chalk or use supplies provided at the event. The gathering is open to artists of all skill levels, from beginners to experts.

Artists are encouraged to share their work on social media by tagging the Village’s Facebook and Instagram accounts. These images will be shared throughout the day to create an online gallery.

The Village of Mount Pleasant Tourism Commission, also known as Enjoy Mount Pleasant, has organized several summer events at Campus Park. Other activities include Sounds at Sunset concerts featuring Betsy Ade & the Well-Known Strangers on July 29 and Dancing Queen: An ABBA Salute on August 19.

“Chalk art is for everyone, so we invite the entire community to Campus Park to share in the fun and creativity on August 23rd,” said Village of Mount Pleasant Tourism Manager Matt Prochaska.

Food options include RedKhlover Creamery’s frozen treats and coffee and pastries from The Inclusive Bean. Local artists Caiti Rose and Marybeth Zuhlke will provide guidance and display their skills during the event. Zuhlke has a long history in art education while Rose works with Sharks4Kids and serves on Spectrum School of the Arts’ board.

The event is free to attend, with parking available on-site at 8500 Campus Drive and nearby locations. Visitors should note that alcohol, glass containers, and dogs are not allowed in the park.
