Seven students from the Academies of Racine recently participated in the HOSA-Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference (ILC) held in Nashville, Tennessee. These students represented the Racine Unified School District (RUSD) at this event.

To qualify for this competition, participants had to place in the top three at the state level. While they did not receive a medal at the ILC, they gained valuable experience during their attendance.

Park High School junior Ignacio Tellez shared his thoughts on the experience: "Attending the HOSA ILC was an eye-opening experience. I used to think HOSA was just a school club, but seeing students from all over the world come together showed me it's an international organization with real impact."

He continued, "From competing in Sports Medicine, trading pins with other states and countries, to listening to a powerful keynote speaker and seeing a local country artist perform, I learned so much and made unforgettable memories."

Tellez emphasized that this experience highlighted "the importance of the Health Services Pathway in preparing future health professionals like myself to lead, connect, and grow into the medical field."

Students from Case High School and Horlick High School also attended this conference.
