Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers believes his clean energy plan is in the best interest of the state.

“Investing in clean energy isn't just the right thing to do—it's also the smart thing to do,” Evers stated in a Nov. 17 tweet. “That's why we introduced our state's first-ever Clean Energy Plan, which will help lower energy bills, lower prices at the pump and create more than 40,000 new jobs by 2030.”

Support for Evers’ plan appears to be growing by the day, with Wisconsin Public Radio reporting a recently commissioned study by Clean Wisconsin and RENEW Wisconsin could save lives and generate billions in economic growth over the next three decades by making all electricity consumed in the state carbon-free by 2050.

Researchers add if the clean energy plan is adopted, the state could generate as many as 68,000 new jobs, add close to $16 billion to the economy and save up to $4.4 billion in health-care expenses over the next three decades. At the same time, supporters of the plan insist up to 63 lives per million residents could be saved across the state if the plan is put in action, according to WPR.

Clean energy could also help families save on energy, while promoting energy independence by reducing reliance on out-of-state sources, improving water security and weather-resistant infrastructure and supporting industries and technologies conducive to cleaner energy, WPR reported.
