Supporters of Harry Wait, charged with election fraud by ordering absentee ballots in the names of others that included the mayor and State Assembly speaker, recently turned out in protest during his latest court hearing at the Racine County Courthouse.

While insisting he took the action that he did to prove a point about errors in the 2020 election, Wait now faces two counts each of election fraud and using someone’s personal information to commit fraud.

As the case attracts more attention, attorney Dan Hartman insists public support is growing for his client.

“Well his support isn’t limited to Wisconsin,” Hartman told CBS58.com. “That’s why I’m here from Michigan. It’s a national issue and a national concern. And what I will say with what Harry has raised as an issue, the fact that he's being prosecuted is not a surprise to anybody.”

Prosecutors moved in July of this year to accuse Wait of obtaining absentee ballots in the name of Racine Mayor Coty Mason and Speaker Robin Vos as part of his plan to show weaknesses and fraud of the voter system in the state. The leader of a conservative group in Racine, Wait has gone on record with his belief that the 2020 presidential election was fraught with fraud.

In all, Yahoo News reported that Wait is accused of attempting to obtain eight ballots, with just two of them being denied to him.

Wait’s supporters are also now insisting he is being charged for being a whistleblower, going as far as to compare his actions to that of Rosa Parks’ civil disobedience.

Wait was originally poised to defend himself before Hartman stepped forward to take the case. Hartman claimed that national concern and importance of the trials compelled him to become involved.

Wait is due back in court on Oct. 21.
