Nearly two months after a shooting at a Racine funeral, police have arrested two male suspects, one of whom is a minor.
Earlier this month, the Racine Police Department publicized the arrest of a 16-year-old and Lamarion D. Blair, 19, both from Racine, in connection with a shooting at the funeral of Da’Shontay King Sr. in early June. The Graceland Cemetery shooting injured two female mourners, ages 19 and 35, Spectrum News 1 reported.
“Even his funeral was desecrated by a shooting. I can't imagine what his family is enduring. #DashontayKing,” one person, who uses the name Hope on Twitter, tweeted soon after the funeral shooting.
Blair faces 23 felony counts of first degree recklessly endangering of safety, along with 23 felony counts of bail jumping and a felony count of firearm possession. If convicted of all charges, Blair could be sentenced to lifetime in jail—a maximum of almost 450 years in prison or approximately $850,000 in fines, according to Racine County Eye.
Blair is being held on a $1 million cash bond and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Wednesday.
The two females struck by bullets in the shooting underwent surgery for their injuries.
King was shot and killed by a Racine police officer in late May after he fled from police who had pulled him over for a traffic stop. The officer was cleared of any wrongdoing, CBS has reported.
