Family members and friends of Racine bartender Becky Rannow are celebrating a guilty verdict against the man charged with her 2021 murder.

The verdict against Montreal Greer came following a week-long trial, after which it took jurors just two hours to deliberate; a recent CBS 58 report said. The verdict came just a week after what would have been Rannow’s 42nd birthday.

"I get, I get one last birthday present from my sister and that's her justice," Tony Rannow, Becky's brother, told CBS 58. "It doesn't bring her back, nothing will ever bring her back. We still don't know why he did it."

Friends found Rannow’s body in her Edgewood home after she failed to show up for work. At trial, authorities noted that she had 17 bullet wounds, adding that Greer was a friend of the victim's then-boyfriend and had lived with the couple over the preceding winter.

Police said Greer also stole the victim’s PlayStation and cell phone and locked her dog in a room, CBS 58 reported. He was also later found pawning the stolen items and was in possession of the murder weapon. Investigators added that her phone was located within 90 feet of his house.

Following the guilty verdict, friends and families celebrated a toast in Becky’s honor.

Greer is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 28, Tony Rannow’s birthday.

"It's a little sad because she's not here to celebrate this with us, we're celebrating her justice for her death," he said. "But I get to get some good news that he's going to be sentenced and when he's sentenced, he's going to be sentenced on my birthday, Oct. 28."
