The Racine Zoo recently announced that its second annual Animal Crackers Junior concert series is scheduled to begin this summer.

The series will be held in the zoo's amphitheater, located at 2131 N. Main St.

"These exciting kid concerts are just the ticket to enjoy a nice summer night by the lake,” Beth Heidorn, executive director of the Racine Zoo, told Racine County Eye. "I am so excited for the Animal Crackers Junior concerts this season."

Tickets for each performance are $10 per person in advance and $15 at the door; admittance for children under the age of two is free.

The series will feature two performances by children's music artists from throughout the country.

The performances will take place between 6 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. from July 15 through Aug. 12.

Families are invited to attend the performances and are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets, which they may set up anywhere in front of the stage.

Prior to the performances, there will be a variety of activities for families to enjoy, including lawn games, and arts and crafts. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

On July 15, the Chicago Honey Bear Dancers will start off the concert series with a range of songs and dances, along with a kids dance workshop focused on bullying, as well as a meet and greet with an autograph session after the performance.

On Aug. 12, juggler Jason Kollum will serve as the opening act for Miss Jamie's Farm, a show featuring farm animal puppets and music for children and their families.

Kollum's performance consists of incredible balancing and juggling skills, techniques with spinning balls and frisbees and a vast array of interactive talents.
