“Who Gets to Vote,” a program designed to raise awareness around the people’s right and responsibility to vote, will be at the Kenosha and Racine public libraries beginning March 7.
The Racine County Eye highlighted the program, stating it will feature presentations, discussion sessions and free copies of a best-selling historical book.
“The Who Gets to Vote program has been planned to create awareness of how you can get involved and to learn about the importance of your vote,” Racine Public Library Executive Director Angie Zimmerman told the Racine County Eye. “We’re hoping this program helps raise awareness around everyone’s right and responsibility to vote and how important that is for a healthy and well-informed democracy.”
“The Soul of America – The Battle for Our Better Angels," by author and historian Jon Meacham, will be available for people to read as they get ready to vote, the report states. After reading the text, residents are invited to come together for a time of discussion.
According to the report, Wisconsin Humanities used grant funds to purchase softbound copies of the book, available for free at the Racine and Kenosha libraries as well as the bookmobile.
The Kenosha discussion will take place at 6 p.m. on March 7 at the KPL Southwest Library while the Racine session will be hosted virtually at 6:30 p.m. on March 23, the Racine County Eye reported.
