A packaging company in Racine is planning the expansion of its existing facility, a move that would create an estimated 145 jobs.

According to a news release by the Racine County Economic Development Corp. (RCEDC), Summit Packaging Systems LLC, headquartered in Manchester, New Hampshire has been operating at its South Memorial Drive location since 2010 and has operated in Racine since 1987.

“For all communities we operate in, one of our top priorities is to work with local organizations to facilitate investment and development of the local workforce,” Scott Gilroy, vice president of operations at Summit Packaging Systems, said in the RCEDC news release. “The city of Racine – and Racine County as a whole – provides companies like ours unparalleled resources to succeed.”

According to the RCEDC news release, since 2010, the company has grown from 50 employees to more than 200.

The RCEDC release also noted that Racine Mayor Cory Mason stated that a tax increment district (TID) would be formed to drive the development, which he termed as a “big win” for the city. This will allow the city to provide financial incentives to the company, according to the release.

In addition to its local facility and New Hampshire headquarters, Summit Packaging Systems has facilities in Argentina, the Netherlands and Poland, according to the RCEDC release. The release, citing a report by the New Hampshire Union Leader, noted that the company produces aerosol valve and actuator products for a range of brands, including Barbasol, Lysol, WD-40, Resolve, Glade and Rust-o-leum.
