Gov. Tony Evers (D-WI) has granted 25 more pardons, bringing the total number during his time in office to over 400.
NBC 15 reports that all 25 were young when initially incarcerated and have since proven themselves, through obtaining college degrees or learning trades.
“I’m proud to grant these 25 pardons today to recognize the hard work these folks have done in their communities and lives to make amends and give back to their communities," Evers said, according to a press release from The Office of the Governor. “When we re-established the Pardon Advisory Board in 2019, we knew there were many folks worthy of a second chance who simply didn’t have the opportunity to apply for years. Now, we have surpassed more than 400 pardons in less than three years, and I look forward to continuing this critically important work.”
According to NBC 15, Evers has given more pardons in his three years as governor than any other governor in contemporary history.
The governor has granted 416 pardons during his time in office, according to NBC 15.
NBC 15 reports that a pardon is a "forgiveness" that gives rights back to convicted felons like the right to serve on a jury or run for office.
According to the release, to be eligible for a pardon an individual must meet several conditions. The individual must be requesting a pardon for a Wisconsin felony conviction, it has been a minimum of five years since finishing a criminal sentence meaning the individual has completed confinement and supervised release such as probation, must not have any pending criminal cases or charges and is not a registered sex offender.
Here is the list of names of those pardoned by Evers, including their age at the time the crimes were committed: Tarlesha Hughes, 26; Chad Adelmeyer, 18; Heidi Tlatelpa, 18; Jennifer Massey, 20; Courtney Robertson, 28, Eric Dailey, 17; Timothy Hindman, 32; Michael Blume, 25; Michael Spice, 19; Lori McClain, 28; Dariu Kirk, 23; Andre Brown, 17; William and Mary Gruber; Jordan Lungstrom, 21; Joseph Anny, 26; Dwight Jackson, early 30s; Samuel Reyes Burgos, 39; Dante Biancardi, 21; Lyle Narloch, 20; Jeffrey House, 33; Isaac Melendez,22; Andrea Williams, 25; Danna Madlock, 28 and Terry Moss, 23.
