State Rep. Tip McGuire (D-Kenosha) sent his condolences to those affected by the recent Saxony Manor apartment fire.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who died this week in the tragic fire at Saxony Manor, as well as with those displaced by the fire,” the legislator tweeted

The Kenosha Fire Department received reports of an active fire at the apartments, located at 1870 22nd Ave., Jan. 17 at about 9:30 p.m., the department said in a news release.

"Fire personnel arrived to find the entire building filled with toxic smoke and the west side of the building consumed with flames," the news release said. "Quick work by the Kenosha Police Department assisted us with the evacuation of several residents before our arrival. However, two residents who were trapped in upper-level units had to be rescued by KFD personnel utilizing ladder trucks. They were successfully rescued."

The fire was under control in 30 minutes, the department said. Two adults were found dead.

"One adult appeared to have died from a medical event unrelated to the fire and the other as a result of the fire," the fire department said. "A third adult later died at the hospital, due to injuries sustained in the fire."

A police officer was treated for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

"The loss of life due to fire is something that something that deeply effects the City of Kenosha and our residents," the fire department said." Our Fire prevention Bureau routinely conducts inspections and will continue to strive to make every building in Kenosha as safe as possible."
