Rep. Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) has been elected Democratic leader of the Wisconsin State Assembly.
She will replace Rep. Gordon Hintz (D-Oshkosh).
“I’m honored to share that I’ve been unanimously elected the new Assembly Democratic Leader of @AssemblyDemsWI," Neubauer tweeted. "I truly appreciate the support and confidence my colleagues expressed today, and I’m looking forward to continuing our work to make WI a place where we all can thrive. I’d like to thank @GordonHintz and @RepHesselbein again for their service to our caucus and to the people of Wisconsin. Their leadership over the past four years has been invaluable."
Neubauer said her experience as organizer would be an asset in her new leadership position, Channel 3000 reported.
A native of Racine, Neubauer has long been a support of progressive causes.
"In college, she lead a campus campaign addressing climate change and went on to co-found and lead the Fossil Fuel Divestment Student Network, which supported students organizing around the country," the bio said.
In January, she will be entering her third term in the assembly.
Neubauer is 30, and the newly elected Assistant Minority Leader, Rep. Kalan Haywood, is 22, the Kenosha News reported.
