A new video game store has opened a second location in Racine this week and offers free food from the farmers market to any youth who can beat them at a game.
Gamesters Bay is opening a second store located in Racine at 223 Sixth St. With an original location in Evanston, Illinois, this will be the company's first Wisconsin location as part of their mission to “provide, preserve and persevere” for all within the video game industry, according to their website.
"At Racine Wisconsin farmers market Saturdays and Sundays, we’re going to start an event for the youth to come play games. If you can beat me (or other gamers we pick to play) we'll buy you something to eat at the farmers market. Rules vary depending on the game, limited attempts," said Gamesters Bay in a tweet.
For Gamesters Bay founder Ramsin Zaia, video games were vital in helping him stay off the streets as a child and aims to do the same for today's youth through his stores, according to The Journal Times.
According to Healthline, over 90% of American children play video games. And with approximately 30,000 children in Racine County live in poverty, Gamesters Bay could provide a way to keep kids off the streets.
