An American flag once flown at our nation's Capitol now flies over the Brighton War Memorial to honor the fallen men and women who bravely served our country.
U.S. Congressman Bryan Steil (R-WI) was joined by a number of people in a special ceremony that raised the new flag at the memorial on Aug. 9.
"The new U.S. flag we presented to the Brighton War Memorial was flown over the U.S. Capitol and will now fly over the Memorial to honor and remember our nation's heroes," Steil wrote in a tweet on Aug. 14.
Steil had asked that the flag be flown over the U.S. Capitol before he presented it to the Brighton War Memorial Board as a way of honoring fallen soldiers, according to Kenosha News.
Kenosha News also reported the Brighton War Memorial was built in 1921, and honors the soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice during the Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam War, Iraq and Afghanistan.
The flag was presented to Connie Erdman of the Brighton War Memorial Board and members of the community by Steil and state Rep. Samantha Kerkman (R-Salem Lakes), West of the I reported.
