On Saturday, Aug. 7, the City of Kenosha will host the Ranger Summer XC Classic races on a University of Wisconsin course.
The races will be held at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course on the University of Wisconsin Parkside campus and will feature 3K and 5K events.
"Join us for an an amazing experience in Kenosha," Nick Maas, Parkside Cross Country coach, wrote in a July 12 Twitter post.
Registration fees for both races are $20 per runner ($15 for those under 17 years of age) with all proceeds going to the University of Wisconsin Parkside Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course improvement fund.
Medals and prizes will be awarded to the top five finishers in each category and cross country-related door prizes will be raffled at the awards ceremony.
Courses run at the classic will be used this fall for the UWPXC team home meets, eight regular season high school meets, the WIAA Racine St. Catherine's D2 Sectionals, the WIAA Kenosha Bradford D1 Sectionals, the Wisconsin USATF Association Championships and the Foot Locker XC Midwest Regional Meet.
