In the hopes of facilitating more vaccinations, the City of Racine is offering free bus rides to and from vaccination sites, which will save residents some valuable cash at this time.
The program that is still ongoing was started in March in collaboration with the city’s RYDE buses.
“Everyone deserves access to the COVID-19 vaccine. As more vaccines are available and as more people become eligible, we must remove as many barriers as possible for people to access the vaccine. Offering free bus rides to anyone looking to get vaccinated will help remove transportation barriers. I thank our transit system for being proactive in thinking about how they can support the city’s vaccination efforts,” Racine Mayor Cory Mason said.
Riders simply must tell the driver that they are going to be vaccinated to receive a free ride. On the way back, they should inform the bus driver that they are returning home following a vaccination.
Currently, the population of Racine County is under 48% vaccinated.
RYDE is delighted to be a part of the vaccination effort and encourages the public to put this service to good use.
The normal fee for using RYDE one-way is $2 per adult, saving $4 round-trip for an individual going to a vaccination.
