VILLAGE OF CALEDONIA POLICE DEPARTMENT: Weekly Round Up 06/01 – 06/06

Village of Caledonia Police Department issued the following announcement on June 7.

Below are some highlights of calls that our officers responded to over the last week:

06/01 – Officers completed a traffic stop on a vehicle for a defective headlamp. Upon the vehicle ceasing movement, the operator and the occupant switched seats. Both the operator and the occupant had revoked driver’s licenses. Charges were referred to the Racine County District Attorney for Operating after Revocation, Failure to have an Ignition Interlock Device and Bail Jumping.

06/01 – Officers took a fraud complaint where a local business was the victim of a wire fraud in excess of $124,000. The Detective Bureau is continuing the investigation.

06/02 – Officers were called to a residence on STH 38 near 6 ½ Mile Rd. for a domestic incident. The male suspect had left prior to officer arrival. He was later located and arrested for charges of Battery and Disorderly Conduct and multiple outstanding warrants.

06/03 – Officers conducted a traffic stop on CTH G/CTH V for a speed and registration violation. An odor of marijuana was detected. Several items of drug paraphernalia and approx. 30 grams of marijuana was located. The operator was cited and released.

06/06 – Officers responded to an accident on 5 Mile and Nicholson Rd. Upon arrival, a vehicle was located that had extensive damage to it. No driver or operator was located. Suspecting that occupants

may have been ejected. An extensive search of the area was conducted using K9 and thermal imaging. No one was located. Eventually a possible driver was identified. Investigation continuing.

06/06 – Officers responded to a reckless driver that eventually caused a 3-car accident with injuries at Northwestern Aven and Carol Road. Subjects involved were taken to the hospital for their injuries. The driver was issued multiple citations and charges including Reckless Driving Causing Bodily Harm and

OWI. Investigation continuing. 

Officers took 385 calls for service, conducted 95 traffic stops, made 4 OWI arrests and handled 11 accidents during the time period above.
