Wisconsin Congressman Bryan Steil is marveling at what he views as one of his Green Bay Packers’ most impressive plays.

“Two things all Wisconsinites can agree on: we must support our veterans, and Go Pack Go! I know the Racine community is grateful to the Packers, as they awarded a $250,000 grant to Racine’s Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin nonprofit,” Steil recently posted on Twitter.

This month’s award announcement continues a trend where the franchise has presented its Give Back Award to who it deems as the state’s most exceptional non-profit volunteers. The award is funded by the team and the National Football League Foundation.

Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin touts its overall goal as assisting homeless and at-risk veterans in getting their lives back on track by offering them access to critical resources that include food, clothing, shelter and other necessities. Going forward, The Journal Times reports the organization envisions using the grant towards expanding its tiny house project, opening a veteran community center and creating a mobile food pantry.

Green Bay Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy said team officials are all in on the plan.

“The Packers are pleased to support Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin and their critical work providing much-needed assistance to those who have served our country,” he added. “We look forward to seeing how the grant will help this deserving organization grow as they work to ensure veterans in need have access to resources, community and a place they can call home.”
