With the Mid-States Football League playoffs set to soon kick off, the Racine Raiders (7-4) are set to welcome steady reinforcements.

Star receiver Jordan Payne is expected to be available for when the Raiders open postseason play on Aug. 27. A first-year officer with the Kenosha Police department, Payne’s availability has been spotty for most of the regular season, but he has vowed to make it work with his schedule for the playoffs.

“I’m feeling good,” Payne told JournalTimes.com. “I haven’t been able to play as much as I would have like this year due to work, so I still feel I’m fresh and that I’ve got a lot of season left in me.”

In the Raiders 45-22 win over Milwaukee County at Horlick Fields earlier this month, Payne caught six passes for 97 yards and three touchdowns and returned one punt for 26 yards. Linebacker Torie Ruffin and running back Garrett Foldy also starred for the Raiders.

The Raiders’ August 13 regular-season finale against the Chargers was also their Alumni Night, with the team welcoming six new players to the team’s Hall of Fame during halftime. The inductees included wide receiver Sam D’Alie, defensive back Chu Graham, quarterback/wide receiver/defensive back Gary Griffin, volunteer Deb Hart, journalist Peter Jackel and offensive lineman Matt Schoeneman.
