Students from The Academies of Racine at Gifford, Case, Horlick, and Park were recognized for their achievements at the HOSA Wisconsin State Leadership Competition, according to an April 13 announcement. A total of 80 Racine Unified School District students took part in the event held in Wisconsin Dells.
The competition allowed students to compete in various health science events, learn new skills, network with peers from across the state, and participate in other activities. Some student groups earned eligibility to represent Wisconsin at the International Leadership Competition scheduled for June in Indianapolis.
Horlick High School had several notable results. Rayne G. placed third in Veterinary Science; Keymaliz R. finished fourth in Allied Health Statistics; and Ana M-P. achieved third place in Leadership. The school also received recognition awards including Chapter of Excellence (Silver), HOSA Happenings (Silver), and National Service Project (Gold).
According to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, Horlick High School enrolled a total of 1,281 students during the 2023-24 school year according to official data. This figure represented a decrease of 4.4% compared to the previous year as reported by the department. Additionally, Horlick had the third largest student body among Racine County schools for that period according to enrollment statistics.
The event highlights continued participation by local high schools in statewide academic competitions and offers opportunities for further achievement at national levels.
