A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Village Of Raymond, Wisconsin, regarding new voter registrations on November 7, 2024.

The request, made by us at Racine Sun, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, specifically asked for a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024. The information was requested under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., and preferably in an electronic format.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We are committed to ensuring that our readers are informed about important civic activities such as voting registration. This information will allow us to report accurately on the number of same-day registered voters during the recent election cycle.

We await a response from the Village Of Raymond and will keep our readers updated with any developments.
