A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Village of Mount Pleasant regarding new voter registrations on November 7, 2024. The request, filed by us at Racine Sun, seeks access to a list of voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024.

As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe in the importance of transparency and accountability. Access to public records such as these is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities.

In our request, we have cited the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., and have expressed preference for the records in an electronic format. Given our role in gathering and reporting news to the public, we have also stated our eligibility for a fee waiver as a media professional.

The information sought will aid us in providing thorough coverage of the recent elections and shed light on voter registration trends within the community. We await a response from the Village of Mount Pleasant and remain committed to keeping our readers informed about local governmental affairs.
