Town Of Dover issued the following announcement on March 15.
On Saturday, March 19, 2022, the Kansasville Fire & Rescue Department (KFRD) along with various emergency response partners from surrounding communities will conduct a live-fire training exercise at 975 224th Avenue, Kansasville, Wisconsin. The training site is in the Kenosha County Town of Brighton.
“We’re grateful for the generous donation of the structure that will provide a “real-life” training opportunity for many area Firefighters to take advantage of to learn new techniques, work with other departments and to hone their skills using tools and equipment to do their jobs. It is some of the most realistic training that we can provide” said KFRD Chief Ron Molnar.
The training will include numerous live-fire scenarios and for firefighters to practice firefighting tactics that include reading smoke, fire attack, search and rescue, use of tools, ladders, and ventilation.
Having the ability to train in an actual structure brings so much value to the training, it makes it real” said KFRD Firefighter/EMT Ryan Hoover, “This is a tremendous opportunity for us to become better at what we do – serving those in need”.
“Being able to set up realistic training scenarios that mirror those in actual fire situations provides the most realistic training for our crews”, said KFRD Assistant Chief Matthew Callies. “Having crews from multiple area Fire Departments working together to combat a blaze is very realistic and what is typical for a MABAS (Mutual Aid Box Alarm) response for a fire such as this” said Callies.
It is anticipated that the training site will continue to smolder for a few days after the training is completed. Smoke and small flames may continue to be seen coming from the basement area of the structure, at times. This is normal as the goal is to burn away as much of the structure as possible. KFRD continue checking it to ensure safety.
