Racine Mayor Cory Mason is sharing the story of a widow who is working to vaccinate people against the coronavirus.
David Brown’s widow mourns the fact that he beat cancer but died due to COVID-19 in a video posted on the mayor’s Facebook page.
"Watch the story of one woman’s inspiring personal campaign to stop the COVID-19 virus," Mason said in a Facebook post.
Brown now goes around vaccinating people against COVID-19, all in memory of her late husband, according to the video.
Racine is still hosting pop-up vaccination clinics as well as participating in the statewide $100 voucher for getting the vaccine, according to a press release.
"The delta variant is now spreading throughout Wisconsin — it’s highly contagious and very dangerous for the unvaccinated," said a press release from the City of Racine. "The best way to protect yourself, your family and your community is by getting fully vaccinated as soon as possible. Make sure children age 12+ get their vaccine before the start of the school year."
About 48.4% of residents in Racine County are fully vaccinated, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
Vaccination clinics are available at Regency Mall, city hall or one of the pop-up clinics listed on the Racine website.
